Transmission Line Tower Foundations, Rajahmundry

Two foundations of Transmission line towers for Godavari river crossing, having 32 nos. bored cast in situ piles had developed distress. Concrete cover had spalled & reinforcement exposed for depth up 10 M under water portion. Special technique of constructing enclosure around piles - by use of steel chambers & dewatering the chambers to create dry condition was used. Trained divers sealed the under water joints of Chambers to prevent leakage of water. Rapairs were carried out in a record period of 3 months by use of Polymer modified concrete, provision of permanant liners etc.
